Comprehensive Wastewater Operations Training Program

Course Description:

The Comprehensive Wastewater Operations Training Program is an immersive 16-week course designed to provide a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of wastewater operation for plant and collection systems. Each week, participants will delve into a specific aspect of wastewater treatment and management, building a comprehensive skill set for this critical field. The program covers a wide range of topics, from treatment processes to safety protocols and automation, ensuring that attendees are well-equipped to excel in the wastewater industry. Upon the completion of this course the student will have the knowledge necessary to pass the Wastewater certification exam.

The 16 courses are 3 hours long, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm once a week for a total of 48 Class hours. There will also be a 2 hour review session at the end of the course . Office hours will be available from 12:30pm - 3:00pm after class.  This class Is provided online Via Zoom but can be provided on site per request.

Delaware Certification Credits: 35 Hrs Direct, 5 Hrs Indirect -- Course Fee: $750.00

Week 1: Wastewater Activated Sludge Process (WW1)

Week 4: Dissolved Oxygen (DO) and Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) Analysis Process (WW4)

• Master the analysis of DO and BOD, vital for assessing water quality.

Week 5: Chemical Clarification – Coagulation Methods (WW5)

• Understand coagulation techniques for water treatment.

Week 6: Wastewater Nitrification and Denitrification Process (WW6)

• Explore nitrogen removal techniques.

Week 7: Industrial Safety and OSHA Regulations (WW7)

• Learn safety protocols and ensure OSHA compliance.

Week 8: Solids Analysis & Pounds-Formula Process (WW8)

• Examine solids analysis and calculations.

Week 9: Basics of Phosphorus Removal Process (WW9)

• Study phosphorus removal methods.

Week 10: Jar Testing of Chemical Dosages (WW10)

• Gain hands-on experience with jar testing.

Week 11: Alkalinity, pH & Ion-Selective Electrodes (WW11)

• Explore water chemistry and analysis.

Week 12: Rotating Biological Reactor Process (WW12)

• Understand biological treatment methods.

Week 13: Input Control Devices for Wastewater Applications (WW13)

• Learn about control devices.

Week 14: Lagoon Stabilization Process (WW14)

• Study lagoon-based wastewater treatment.

Week 15: Processing Wastewater Oil & Grease (WW15)

• Focus on oil and grease removal techniques.

Week 16: PLC Operations (WW16)

• Gain proficiency in PLC operation for automation.
